KAAF RBE2500: Türkiye’s First Domestic and National Battery-Powered Shunting Locomotive Introduced
Türkiye’s first domestic and national battery-powered shunting locomotive, RBE2500, developed by KAAF Demiryolu Araçları A.Ş., was introduced at a launch event held in Kayseri Mimarsinan Organized Industrial Zone.
As one of the important examples of domestic engineering capability in the rail systems sector, RBE2500 was developed to provide an environmentally friendly, powerful and sustainable solution for shunting operations. The event was held with the participation of Kayseri Governor Gökmen Çiçek, Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Osman Boyraz, Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Memduh Büyükkılıç and distinguished protocol members.
Since 2019, KAAF has been carrying out its activities in the fields of railway vehicles, subsystems and rail system technologies. The company manages its processes from design to production with its own engineering capabilities. Developed through the production infrastructure in Mimarsinan Organized Industrial Zone and the R&D activities at Erciyes Technopark, RBE2500 stands out as a concrete result of the domestic production vision.
RBE2500 Battery-Powered Shunting Locomotive offers an efficient, safe and environmentally friendly alternative for shunting operations in industrial facilities, logistics areas, maintenance centers and railway operators. With its battery-powered structure, it contributes to reducing fossil fuel use, while its remote-control capability and strong tractive performance aim to deliver high operational efficiency.
During the launch event, it was emphasized that RBE2500 is not only a product, but also a strategic step representing Türkiye’s domestic engineering, production and technology development capabilities in the field of rail systems. With the subsystems, control structures and engineering solutions developed within the scope of the project, KAAF continues its efforts to reduce foreign dependency in railway vehicles.
As KAAF, we continue our engineering, production and R&D-oriented investments to help our country achieve a stronger, more sustainable and more competitive position in rail system technologies.
