Heavy Maintenance Services for Rail Vehicles
1.1 Heavy Maintenance Services for Rail Vehicles
KAAF Demiryolu Araçları A.Ş. provides heavy maintenance services for locomotives, shunting vehicles, and special-purpose vehicles in compliance with international standards. Heavy maintenance activities cover comprehensive technical interventions carried out at defined mileage, operating hour, or calendar-based intervals in order to ensure the safe, sustainable, and high-performance operation of the vehicle.
Our service scope includes critical activities such as bogie and running gear overhauls, wheelset inspection and maintenance, braking system overhauls (mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic), traction system maintenance, structural inspections, inspection of welded fabrications (NDT), and the testing and verification of electrical and control systems. All processes are planned and implemented in accordance with EN, UIC, and customer technical specifications.
KAAF adopts the RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety) approach as the basis of its heavy maintenance projects. Through this approach, operational continuity of vehicles is improved after maintenance, while failure frequency and life-cycle maintenance costs are reduced. Maintenance planning is optimized by taking into account field data, historical failure records, and operating conditions.
Throughout heavy maintenance activities, measurement, testing, commissioning, and verification steps are documented and recorded. Following maintenance, we provide our customers with detailed technical reporting, measurement results, and traceable maintenance documentation. In this way, the regulatory compliance and technical condition of the vehicles are presented in a transparent manner.
