Vehicle Design and Development Service
2.1 Vehicle Design and Development Service
KAAF provides end-to-end railway vehicle design and development services for rail systems projects, ranging from the concept stage to serial production. Design activities for locomotives, shunting vehicles, and special-purpose railway vehicles are shaped in line with performance, safety, cost, and operability criteria.
The vehicle design process begins with requirements analysis, concept design, system architecture development, 3D CAD modelling, engineering calculations, and verification analyses. Critical engineering topics such as structural strength, fatigue life, vibration, braking performance, and thermal behaviour are addressed at the early stages of the design process.
KAAF places strong emphasis on manufacturability and ease of maintenance throughout its design activities. In this way, the vehicles developed not only meet technical requirements, but also provide solutions suitable for serial production and long-term operation. Design decisions are made in alignment with cost-effectiveness and supply chain realities.
Throughout the project, close technical communication is maintained with our customers, and design validations and decision points are managed collaboratively. As a result, railway vehicles developed by KAAF provide high reliability, low life-cycle cost, and full compliance with applicable regulations.
